I’ve been wanting to blog about food for quite some time now and in keeping with the kick ass, no perfectionism theme from my previous post, it’s time to continue with the action!

Food and me, we’re pretty good friends. We’ve had our problems, we’ve had our disagreements, but like all good relationships we rode the waves and now, we’re good. Loved up.

How’s your relationship with food going?

Image kudos: sockmonkeyy.tumblr.com

How does food make you feel? Like a loved up, sexy, amazing, vivacious woman on a romantic weekend away with her man or a grumpy, tired, flat shell who is walking the ‘I am tolerating life’ path?

Might seem like an odd question but this knowledge is the foundation to you. Not only your health and well being, but also your energy, emotions, skin appearance, sex drive, confidence… the things that build the foundations of a strong epic woman!

There are thousands of diets out there that claim to be the secret to your success, but the thing is you are you! (Which is a great thing by the way). No one formula will work for everyone. You need to work out what works for you and your one in a trillion beautiful self. Overwhelmed? Don’t be. I’m here to share tips, tricks and little secrets I’ve learnt along the way but before we even go there, you need to be aware.

Here’s some initial tips for you and your foodie relationship:

Make time for your dates Rather than sucking in that muesli bar or shovelling in a piece of sushi at your desk in between meetings, stop and savour the moment with your food. You’re worth that 5 minutes right?

Be conscious: Be present in the moments you share with the food. You’re the one choosing to be in a relationship with this food. Make note of how you feel consuming.

Beyond the morning after: How did the food you chose make you feel afterward? It’s a lot to remember, write it down. Find the patterns, know your relationship.

So go set some dates up and start a new way of conscious eating - understand your relationship with food.

Knowledge is power.

Much love

I lied. Sorry. I wouldn’t ordinarily do that to you but if you clicked the link to find the answer, then you probably need to read this post just as much as I need to write it.

I have been on some amazing adventures over the last few months and now I’m home in Melbourne. What happened? Where was I? What did I do? So many questions, so much for me to divulge.

To be perfectly honest, I have spent the last few weeks in Melbourne working on some other, albeit very exciting, things to do with About Eve and the future of this blog and my work. But I have also been procrastinating over doing what I love most. Writing. Helping others. Motivating. I have agonised over how much I write, about how I explain the last few months. I have asked myself repeatedly how I explain the future of About Eve. What is the perfect way to do that? Should I tell you this story or that? Could I focus on this bright idea or the next one on my list?

Perfect. I like aiming for that word. I also spend a lot of time planning how to execute perfect and then not taking any action. Sound familiar? Be honest now. Why did the title of the post attract you? Have you got things that you keep planning and then re-planning, hoping that you’ll find the perfect approach?

Therapeutic moment for me: You (I) probably wont find the perfect way – whatever that really means anyway. So I say let’s just do whatever it is we are planning for perfection. Big deep breath. Now. Do it.

I’m here in Melbourne, a new chapter ready to unfold. Much has happened in between; lessons and observations I will share as they need to be shared. My passion is ignited. I’m ready to build my tribe of Epic Women. What the hell am I talking about? Stay tuned for that juicy goodness. You’ll see.

So there. Maybe not perfect but I did it. What could you do today that doesn’t need to be perfect but just needs to be done to start the momentum again?

Big deep breath….

Much love,

Don’t you love it when people ask what you do and when you try to explain it all they look at you with an expression one could only liken to a mild case of constipation? I get that a bit these days when I try to explain what I am doing, what my dreams are and what I am working towards.

Initially, that ‘I think you may be a little cookoo’ look stressed the hell out of me. Maybe these people were right. What was I doing? Maybe this was all a bit crazy. Yet somewhere along the winding European path, I have found a space inside me that feels comfortable with who I am and what I choose. In fact, I almost can’t help but chuckle to myself when I get the ‘I think she may be a bit loco look’. Yeah I think I am. And I think I like it.

Recently, I was reading a post by Ash Ambirge from The Middle Finger Project, that summed up my thoughts on this topic of ‘the crazies’. Ash is one epic woman, so I am truly honoured that she let me share. I hope you enjoy it too and if, by any chance, you are happy to take advice from this crazy woman who is so in love with life that she is permanently doing a happy dance?…. Don’t ever let anyone take away from your dreams, goals, wants. Crazy? Pfft! Hell yeah!! Those dreams of yours should be crazy! The crazier, the better the dream and the better it’s all going to feel when you ‘get there’. Wherever ‘there’ is for you. Personally, I’d pick l-o-c-o over safe and predictable any day!

Ever noticed how a simple conversation with someone can energise and uplift you? I had this experience over the weekend when a good friend of mine from Greece called to tell me about her visit out to the Corinthian Gulf during the week. A group of friends had gone out on a boat for the day with the hope of seeing Dolphins. They were told many times prior to the journey that the likelihood of this happening was failry low. Not to get their hopes up….

Everyone in the group stayed focused on having an amazing day. They left early in the morning with the intention of seeing Dolphins. This is the result of that intention.

Amazing right? This clip gave me goosebumps and made me smile way beyond it’s running time. It also made me think how often we can tell people about what we want, about our intentions and dreams. Those people will often tell you not to get your hopes up. They probably mean well. They probably think they are protecting you. So they tell you that the liklihood is low. Don’t get hurt. Only the lucky few…. Luck? Remember my take on our lovely friend Lady Luck! If not refresh here and here.

The point though? My friends were not swayed that morning. They didn’t let that well meaning advice dampen their enthusiasm. They got on the boat and left for an adventure anyway. They intended to have an amazing time with or without the Dolphins. What they got was a day beyond their wildest dreams.

Your intention. Your focus. These are very powerful things. It takes practice, but being able to see beyond the advice of your well meaning loved ones can be the difference between a safe but reasonably good day/life or a freakin’ amazing, exhilarating, full of magic, ‘I wanna do a happy dance right now’ day/life!!

Which one do you choose?

So get to it…. what are your intentions today?

Much love PB x

Well does it?

Day to day tasks. Going through the motions. Things that have to be done.

In a world that seems to have gone crazy focussing on what is going wrong, do you stop to think about what feels good for you?

Do you even remember what feels good? I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t, because it takes a conscious effort to be aware, to be present in the moment, to acknowledge what feels good.

What feels good for me right now?

Feeling the fresh, cool breeze gently tickling my skin as it comes through at night…. off the ocean. Crisp. Clean. Welcome relief after another hot and humid day in Cyprus.

Sharing meals with my family, eating fresh, clean, wholesome produce. Learning all about the food, recipes and celebrations that was the basis of my mother’s childhood. So fascinating, so delicious!

Lying in the clear waters of the sea, letting the coolness wash over my body. Listening to the sounds of being underwater. Hearing my own breath, being still.

Receiving emails from the people I love and miss…they always make me smile.

Going for walks down the street and finding quaint little cafes. Exploring. Drinking ice cold coffee, reading in the shade waiting for that cool breeze to touch my skin again…. Anticipation. Happy expectation.

It isn’t hard. Really it isn’t. Your life should feel good. It is meant to. You aren’t achieving anything or helping anyone if you think anything will come from denying yourself the moments of goodness.

So close your eyes, take a deep breath. Think, feel, listen to what comes to you…. What feels good?

Now go do it, immerse yourself in it.

Feel good.

Much love,

Being counterintuitive. Doing the exact opposite of what you think you should be doing. I learnt this wisdom from my ‘homeboy’ Jacob Sokol over at Sensophy. Head over there to check out the goodness oozing from that blog space and his unique style of delivering!

When I first started this journey I felt the need to plan everything, immediately! It’s what I do….it’s what I did. I felt frustrated with my planning because, to be honest, I had no idea what I was even trying to plan! So the planning got put on hold. I took a step back from everything I thought I should be doing and started doing what I wanted to do.

And the last few months have totally rocked! And no, not because I spent them on sun drenched islands (well OK maybe a little…) but because I actually felt free to let life just happen. To let my ideas develop. To not try to problem solve all the time. To be. The adventures I have been on have exhilarated and rejuvenated me. The ideas I have had for what I’d like to do day to day have started to flow. Without being forced. Amazing how when you loosen the grip on what you think you want…. what you really want just ends up coming to you anyway!

There is a time and place for everything but are there any areas in your life that you could try being a little counterintuitive? Something you could loosen the grip on? Throw out the plan?

Plan. Plan. Plan.

I can’t emphasise it enough to you dear reader – stop with the planning!

Let go! Let the wave of life flow through you. Move into your day with a deep sense of knowing that everything will be ok. Everything is awesome!

Let the good stuff in! It’s waiting for you to look up from that plan you keep staring at, examining, clinging to…. Let it go!

And now…. you’re free.

Good to be back.

Much love

PB xx
